What is the best bikini for my body shape?

By

Who would have thought that looking for a great bikini would prove to be a complete nightmare! Bikinis are no longer just there to be swum in; bikinis have become – to some – fashion accessories…an extension of the woman’s fashion style if you will. Most bikinis are related to the fashion trends and while they look great on the hanger, they might leave strange and interesting tan lines!

Trying to find a bikini based on its appeal is one thing, buying for one’s body shape is another and that’s what I want to focus my hub on today.

Woman’s bodies have been compared to all sorts of things from fruits to geometric shapes and sometimes all this information can get rather confusing. What shape am I? What looks good with my big shoulders? What can hide my big thighs? How can I make my torso look longer? how, how, HOW??

Below is a basic picture of the most common shapes seen today:

Look in the mirror and be honest with yourself. There comes a time in every woman's life when we have to pack away the itsy- bitsy- teeny weeny polka dot bikini... there was a time and place for it back in college. Embrace your woman's body and dress it appropriately.

There is no ‘right’ body shape and you should never be ashamed of what your ‘momma’ gave you- but there is of course a limit to how much of your body you expose to the public! Once you know what your body shape is, you can pick out the bikini that’s going to accentuate all the right areas and make heads turn on the beach.

The triangle body shape

The triangle body shape looks more balanced in styles that emphasize the top half and streamline the bottom half. Halter shapes are flattering in triangle body shapes as they create more curves up top, and boy shorts can work on the bottom for extra coverage.

Inverted Triangle body shape

Ladies with inverted triangle body shapes need extra support on top – that means no bandeaus, tiny triangle tops, or ultra thin fabrics! Inverted triangle shapes can also pull of skimpier bikini bottoms than most women, and should look for styles that draw attention to the bottom half while balancing out the top.

Rectangular Body Shape

The rectangular body shape can sometimes appear boyish, so feminine styles with ties and ruffles are essential to create extra curves and draw the eye to all the right areas. Rectangles don’t need to mix and match – matching tops and bottoms show off a proportional frame.

Hourglass Body Shape

Ladies with hourglass body shapes can fortunately pull off nearly any bikini look. Hourglass figures need to be careful when “mixing and matching” When you have a well-proportioned body, a mismatched bikini can make you look disproportional – just what you don’t want...

As you can see there are all sorts of bikinis to choose from that will flatter and bring out the best in your body, no matter what shape or size! For those ladies who are still no convinced that strolling down the beach in a two-piece bikini is for them – then choose from a wide range of one-piece suits or a sarong.

Summer is a very dreaded season for some, but why not ditch that negative body image this year, go and grab a STUNNING bikini that flatters your body, hit the beach and feel beautiful!
